Collective. Purposeful. Grounded in Detroit.
We’re bringing together a cohort of Jewish women who care deeply about Detroit — and about the power of philanthropy to create opportunity and change.
A giving circle is a group of people who come together to learn, connect, and give collectively. Each person contributes funds, and together the group decides where to direct the pooled resources — amplifying both impact and community.
In a culture that prizes independence and individual choice, a giving circle offers something refreshingly different. It invites us to listen as much as we lead, to consider perspectives beyond our own, and to make shared decisions that we might not make alone — but that we can stand behind together.
Together, we’ll form a Detroit Women’s Giving Circle: a small, intentional group of women who will learn, explore, and invest collectively in organizations making a tangible difference for women and girls in our city.
Our theme will be chosen by the group itself, guided by a short survey at the start of the process. Potential ideas include:
- Extra-curricular opportunities in Detroit — arts, sports, and STEM programs that expand horizons.
- College readiness for women and girls — mentoring, access, and pathways to success.
- Education against antisemitism — equipping non-Jewish schools to teach tolerance and inclusion.
- Mental health support in Israel
Or another shared priority we uncover together.
How it Works
- Philanthropic Commitment: $2,000–$5,000 per participant, plus an either $500 or 12% facilitation fee (whichever is less) to Good Name Advisors (covering design, facilitation, and administration).
- Funds: Pooled into a collective Donor-Advised Fund through Grapevine, ensuring transparency and ease of giving.
- Timeline:
- Recruitment: November 25 – January 15
- Kickoff Gathering: February
- Sessions 2–4: March, April, May
- Final Celebration + Grantmaking: June
